Default Moving to Vancouver

My partner and I are visiting Vancouver in October with a view to starting the immigration process should we fall in love with the area, which I belive we will. I am looking for some ideas on areas to look at for housing, reputable accountancy firms to meet with for advice, an immigration law firm to speak with and some general feedback from people who have made the move.

We would be selling our business interest in the UK and would not need to find work in the first few years so employment is not our first concern, however our home and enviroment would be. We are thinking of moving due to the lack of quality of life in the UK and so we would hope to achieve that in Canada We would like ideas on areas of Vancouver that have easy access to the mountains and a proximity to and hopefully a view of the ocean. We are both in our early thirties and would be emmigrating with two dogs. Where should we centre our search for our potential home? North Vancouver????

Also wonder if anybody on the site would like to share a beer or two during our visit to exchange views and thoughts on the pro's and con's of the move. We are in the early stages of our dream but are keen to progress things during October.

I hope you are able to offer help and advice to us.

Kind regards

Ollie & Mandie

Hi, get in touch with me and I will happily show you North Vancouver. Lived here for two years and very happy with our choice of area A tad pricey, but come the earthquake the houses are on granite (unlike Richmond - where the houses are on reclaimed land below sea level )

Also, there is a network of ex-Brits already in Vancouver and BC. Check out http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Brits2Vancouver/ Besides offering lots of advice, members have also organised few pub trips, meals out, open houses etc. Oh, if you apply to join don't be suprised if you get an email from Julie or Clare first (the administrators of the group) before you can join. They are trying to combat the "adult" spammers This group has been around for only about 8 months or so.

There is another Vancouver group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/van-immi/ which has been going for 4 years and has a lot on the hotly debated topics of where to live, which banks has shirty staff!, schools, job opps., etc.

TTFN
Clare
