Hi folks, we.ve just submitted our visa application today for permanent residency - we've applied for a skilled worker class visa which we recognise may take a few years.
We are going to expo in Leeds in a couple of weeks but were wondering what were chances of us getting there quicker though other routes / visas and have we burnt our bridges re applying for the visa we have?
One of us is a Head Teacher in a Primary school (but is happy to return to the classroom if needed), whilst Chris trained as a Nurse (although doesnt do nursing any more) and is a NHS Manager with alot of experience in Oncology and Clinical trials.
Any tips on how we can speed up the process would be much appreciated.
We have just returned from Toronto and we think Ontario is the area for us.
Thanks in advance!!

Hello, Des and Chris, and welcome to the BE forum.
Read Quick Guide to Canadian Immigration.
No, you have not burned your bridges. Although you've submitted a skilled worker application, you still can submit another kind of application.
Unfortunately, that may not be much help. Please read the Wiki article called Teaching in Canada.
Registered Nurses are in great demand in Canada, and they even appear on the list of Occupations Under Pressure in Ontario. That would help in expediting your entry to Canada. The Wiki article on Nursing in Canada will give you introductory information. There also is a Nursing forum here at BE.
I have just given them to you.
Once you've digested that basic information, read the rest of the Wiki section at your leisure. There is a link to it in my signature, below.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for that..you seem to be the font of all knowledge in these forums - its very much appreciated.
Having only come across this site the evening after we sent off our visa application and read about the lack of opportunities for teachers did dismay me a little - alot really.
Still Chris is looking at a return to nursing course now as hes been in NHS management too long and let his nursing registration slip.
That looks like our best chance I guess - will need to explore now how he goes about looking for Nursing jobs in Ontario region - any tips?
Thanks again

- Canadian RN Job Mart
- MD Choice
- Med Hunters
A Wiki search for NURSE + JOB + ONTARIO brought up the following links:
www.medhunters.com/jobs/ontario-canada.html - Med Hunters, already in above list.

That was just the first page of the Google results.
Hope that helps.
