Hi
Im a construction project manager, abd I've been to Toronto previously , stayed in Oakville and loved it- one of the few places I've been around the world that I could have stayed - hence this post
I've been applying to construction recruitment agencies for jobs , but their saying I can't get a position without a visa, I've then made in roads to getting a visa, who said I need a job first
I've just turned 40 so the point system is not on my side, but my wifes a nurse with 20 years exp
Am I right in saying I need to get sponsorship to have a chance of a visa ?

Ahh okay - and there is no way any of your experience in the last 10 years could fall under the duties listed here - http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/...spx?val65=7215

If I were you then - if you are eligible under this NOC and your wife is a Registered Nurse (rather than a LPN) I would have YOU apply under the Federal Skilled Worker route - as RN's is going to be filled within the next week or two.
Just make sure you score 67 points with education etc and you should be good to go. Get yourself booked in for the General IELTS exam asap and whilst your waiting to do this/receive the results, complete the forms and gather the relevant documentation required to submit your application.
Of course, if your Wife IS an LPN, then either of you could submit applications as the Principal Applicant - as there is still plenty of room left in both these categories.

i work as a construction project director in western canada..and i think i posted here before that one of main competitors is actively seeking UK Project managers..there are more opportunites in construction here than in Ontario and further east..hence i ended up here...maybe an idea to look west to Alberta and BC for opportunites rather than Ontario.

Your wife can apply for PR now without registration with a college of RN however she will need to be quick and will need IELTS as main applicant. Cap is set to 500 and currently at 473
Issues for wife is having clinical and theory hours on her transcripts in Paeds, Mental Health, Obstetrics and Adult to meet provincial requirements. Canadian nurses must be general trained unlike the UK which now trains more specialised
