Hi folks my name's ady , I'm a carpenter and biker , visited b.c. 8 years ago and loved the place , looked at emigrating when we got back but life suddenly happened like it does and time goes bye so fast , was after opinions on the likelihood of finding work , was thinking of Vancouver but really liked a little town called Golden aswell ,I'm a yorkeshireman in my late 40's and want to find somewhere where my skills might be appreciated , on a different tack does anyone know what the bike scene and roads are like as this is a big part of my life , please be straight as I would like to know all , good and bad , thank you and I hope to join in the banter , ady.

Hello and welcome to the forum
Your best bet is to re-post in the Canada section of the forum. They are a helpful bunch in there and I'm sure will point you in the right direction. You can follow this link below.

I have some very good mates who make a living hitting things with a hammer all day. Sometime wish I could hit my computer with one! We're all different, thats what makes the forum so good
Hopefully you'll get some good replies from the Canadian people

Do you need a job offer to get a visa (as most do)? If so then I wouldn't limit yourself to somewhere as small as Golden, perhaps just BC would be ok, but in reality you might need to be prepared to go anywhere that you can find an employer prepared to pay $1000, and go through all the paperwork, hassle and wait to hire you, and that could be somewhere in a completely different province. So don't get too hung up on areas just yet.
Do also look in to what you'll need to do to be able to work in Canada, I think that carpenter might be a regulated trade, but not sure on that - a quick forum search should reveal the answer though, or one of our forum members might be able to help with that.
Best of luck with it all.

Thanks buddy for the advice ,carpentry is a regulated trade but I hold lots of experience in all aspects so hoping this will help , unfortunately I spoke to an advisor here in the UK and he thinks my age ( 49 ) will go against me , I had an idea I might struggle on that but will keep trying.

If that is the case, best thing to do is have a good read of the Job Hunting section of the Wiki (on blue bar at top of page), and plan a trip out to job hunt in Canada and hopefully you'll find an employer prepared to sponsor you.
No idea on bikes and roads I'm afraid, but I'm sure others will be along to help with that!
Best of luck.
