US Border Crossing
Hi all,
I've been a PR in Canada for about 9 years with a valid UK passport and I'm cycling in to the US in June this year. I've been browsing the various border agency web sites and it's not clear to me whether I just need to complete and I94 and hand over my $6 or whether I need to complete an ESTA application (I'm guessing I'll get my fingerprints taken and my photo as well - although that may have been done on a trip to Disney a few years ago). Has anybody crossed over the border recently to the US that could help me understand what needs to be done?

ESTA not needed on the land frontier. Otherwise you need to seek admission like any other British citizen.
It would be a lot simpler if you were a Canadian citizen - why on earth haven't you become one?

Why on earth - hmmm.... the application is in, with life and especially work being so busy it just never got done..

We are all Canadian citizens and we used to drive over before 9/11 and it was easy; we just showed the immigration guy our passports and away we went. We will be going over again in July; my question is has there been any change for Canadian passport holders; are there forms to fill in or is it just the same as before?

I got my Canadian citizenship, and then passport just last year, one of the main reasons was when crossing the US border here in SW Ontario, it would take my family and i around 1.5 hrs after lining up at the secondary inspection office.
This was using a British passport and a PR card.
This could be less at other crossings but it was always the same in this area, and not a pleasant experience either!!
You still get your photo taken and fingerprinting done unless it is within the past 90 days that you last crossed the border.

UK passport, PR,I94 $6 dollars no change given so have exact amount or use Credit card. valid 90 days.

Cheers - that's what it's starting to look like (inc. fingerprints and photo). I'm on the Ride to Conquer Cancer in June so it may hold me up a little (I'll just have to pedal harder to catch up with everyone).
