Default University fees.....two...pr

Silly i pad auto correct TWP ..PR......

Am I correct in thinking university fees for my son will be classed as international if we're on a twp as parents at time of application?

Even if we've lived there for 18-24 months?

We plan on applying for PR ASAP but depending how long it takes, there is a possibility of still being on a twp, will they take residency into account?

He will have one 1 or 2 years of high school in Canada at time of application.

Whenever it's to do with education policy, health care, driving licences and a bunch of other stuff, it's no use referring to Canada. Every Province is or may be different.

In Ontario (where I live) uni fees and access to supporting student loans and / or scholarships etc., are based on residency. He needs to have been resident in ON for 12 months to qualify for the normal access.

In NS you need PR to avoid paying international fees. We just about made it as we got PR on Sept 29th and the uni was running out of patience!!!

In Ontario where I was a student fees were based on immigration status. International fees for everyone who is not a PR or a citizen. We drove to the border in a blizzard so we could land before term started, saving those pesky international fees. OSAP, the loans system is also based on residency.

It will also depend on the province of university vs. the province of residence. Out-of-province fees can be substantially more than in-province fees.
