Interesting responses, thanks guys.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything.

However, what happens after 6 months. Can you not get anything then?
I'm aware of the link provided but I don't qualify because of settlement funds.

When I first got my SIN card - I sort of implied in an indirect way about benefits and got a 'what have you been smoking' sort of dirty look.
I guess there is no harm is trying your luck, though.

I'd write to your MP if I were you, maybe citizens advice? Demand what's rightfully yours.

Yes. Questions about immigrants claiming benefits; a rather obvious attempt to annoy the droves of so-called daily-mail reactionary brigade types.

I think you'd be able to get some stuff from either St. Vincent de Paul or the Salvation Army. Even if you don't want it, you can flog it on.

I agree with the rest, you should apply for whats rightfully yours, and there's no harm in visiting a house on "who's your daddy alley" as some of the single parent scroungers would know every trick in the book to pull.

Good luck and report back what you find - it would be interesting to read as i'm sure lots of others would like this information too.

A Wiki article maybe?

I find the cynicism on this site to be quite unacceptable. Can't the poor chap live his dream?

And talking about bleeding immigrants, what about that bastard K'nine or K'naan or whatever?

Comes here from bloody Somalia, claims benefits and turns around and makes a bleeding World Cup anthem-brain-worm which will have destroyed half the bleeding planet's will to live before the middle of July.

Is this what we pay our taxes for?

I think not!!
