Unless you get a CSA stamp (assuming it meets the spec) for the electrical a licensed electrician should not connect it for you, they could lose their license.

It does here. There is a windchill warning for -51C tonight. Looks like the night-shift rig crews will be getting the night off.

An electrician wouldn't need to connect it, it is heated by a 3 pin plug which you would plug into a transformer. The CSA stamp (I believe as it is one appliance) would cost @ CA$75 assuming that it complies with CSA regs. It is imported from America anyway so it is likely to be compliant (but I will check).

How long is the night-shift up there? About 5 months?

It's not that far north.

Fort Mac gets about 6 hours of daylight at this time of year.

I'd suggest emptying it out first otherwise the moving costs will be prohibitive and you'll then be better off getting one here.

Actually not that much. Maybe accumulation of 3 feet all winter.

About 18 hrs a day for the nightshift, 6 hours for the dayshift. It's also that much harder for the nightshift to find their fingers in the dark after they've dropped off.

That may not comply with local codes.

Well fortunately it is not too cold in UK so when you turn it sideways to put it in a container all the water will run out! Obviously in Canada the water would freeze due to the fact that it is always cold there and snowing thus adding additional weight to the load!

Does anyone know if a 240V plug on an appliance can comply with CSA code?

It's the provincial code to be aware of. CSA don't set the standards or enforce electrical code.

How come yours is on a plug, ours had to be wired into a special safety switch ? and to be honest we looked at them last time we were in Canada i would buy one when you get there, much cheaper than here, also as the others have pointed out the insulation is much better.

It is on a plug as it goes into an RCD socket. It is also located within an outhouse.

As stated on my earlier post, it is more economical by approximately CA$7K to bring it with us so even though it might be a hassle, it is a lot of money to spend on something you already own. I will look into the points raised by the other posters on Monday with the supplier and let you know what the outcome is.

Out of interest does anyone else have to plug their Canadian Jacuzzi into a "special socket" and if so what type is it?
