Any tradesmen going to Van with "Jobs in **" as advertised in UK press. After going to seminar last year and parting with a lot of money seems like we were fed a load of bull. Have yous had the email advising that next month we will hear about our future employers labour needs. This is from a company that told us we all had job offers in our respective trades.
He reckons he is going to give us 30 days notice if and when we are to make arrangements to come over - not what he said at seminar. Is this guy for real?
Anybody else thinking of doing business with these clowns then think twice, PM me and i will give it to you chapter and verse.
Not happy

Might be also worth pointing out that 35,000 (that's right - 3 zeros) people were laid off in BC in January. The majority of them were construction workers. I would want to be very, very sure that I had employment lined up with a reputable and secure company if I was coming here on a temporary work permit.

Yeah. Things have slowed down here considerably. Now developers are having to sue people who won't complete on their contracts and buy condos...the market is def. turning.
having said that, we're supposed to be getting a bunch of $$$ from the feds/province for infrastructure building...so it's not all doom & gloom.

7,000 jobs lost in BC construction industry in December.
Canada lost 129,000 jobs in January
and on a related note.

Surely the infrastucture will only secure the jobs for those coming off the golden ears bridge project, which completes this year, so they will just move to the new port Mann bridge project, which being bigger will add a few more jobs, but I don't think enough to cover the losses in the condo construction market, and most of the 2010 stuff is almost complete, as are a few other projects ..
Personally from what I see, there are a lot more to come in job losses.
With 'I.E.' being not so good, I can see why consumers aren't spending & are saving, But I think the shopping Malls and the suppliers are going to be next, which will snowball down to the trucking companies and the garages.
Only secure thing I think is the dollar stores, they always seem to be busy.
Unless someone has a secure job offer and large back up fund, I personally wouldn't recommend a country change at the moment.
Cheers
