I'd rather slam my plums in the door than watch TV over here. It's total waft.

Here are the listings for Vancouver tonight. If you go back to the home page you will be able to get them for any postal code. I don't find them too bad as we have BBC Canada, movie channel, sports, National Geographic, documentary and a couple of others.
Anyhow, have a browse and it will give you some idea.

I pretty much download all the UK shows that I miss.
Top Gear
Torchwood
Not Going Out
QI
Spooks
Blah blah blah
Difficuly think for me is now knowing what to watch as I'm no longer "up" on what's out !!
I use various torrent searches to find the programs. There is a useful program called: "TED" or "Torrent Episode Downloader" that will download new episodes for you as they become available - though it's not perfect!

As of last Friday, Setanta have lost the rights to loads of footie games to Sky for the 2010 season for 3 yrs!! Gutted! However SHAW cable apparently are looking into whether they will take Sky in place of Setanta. Only reason I got Setanta was for the footie, watch out in the future for further news

In a 'European' week, Setanta has typically shown at least 8 games. In a 'domestic' cup week, typically 7 games. Losing one game out of that little lot does not seem that big a blow.

According to the item I read, Setanta has lost out on the Monday night game only. They still have 3 on a Saturday, one or two on a Suunday (curiously the news item didn't mention Sundays) and Tues/Weds and Thursdays...and even Fridays.

one section states: Privately held Setanta, which also owns rights to English soccer’s FA Cup and some England national team games, has built its brand around the Premier League. Scudamore said he wasn’t worried about the effect on the pay-TV channel, which is left with less than one game a week. The attraction for me is the EPL and this is a blow for all footie fans abroad, until Sky offer a similar or better deal for Shaw customers. Shaw said to me yesterday they are still negotiating.

Hmm, now I am confused, check this link: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...M&refer=europe

I'm not sure how Sky will be coming to Canada directly. I didn't know that it was an approved channel.
The Setanta in the US doesn't get as many premier league games as SSC...some of the Premier league games in the US are on Fox Soccer Channel....the Canadian version, Fox Sports World Canada doesn't carry any premier league games...it is a mere shell of its former glory
To me, SSC is good value and I hope that it can continue with its level of programming.

Setanta Sports Canada (SSC) is not the same as Setanta 1 in the UK or Setanta Ireland. IIRC, the 07h45 EST and 12h30 game EST premier league game on a Saturday here on Setanta Sports Canada are actually carried by Sky in the UK. SSC carries generally 8 games/round live or on tape delay and some of those are sub-licensed from Sky.

Tomorrow the England game will be on PPV for $20 or $25 or you can wait until Friday and watch it on Setanta...or watch a dodgy feed on justin.tv
Pre Setanta there wasn't any non PPV option for most friendlies or qualifiers...it was relying on the frat boys over on Fox Sports World Report to give you a couple of minutes of highlights with their comments.

Or Setanta Broadband live for $10. But for a friendly I'll take my chances on a stream. There are so many around and quality is much more reliable than a year ago. Often still crap compared to TV but still good enough to follow the game.

and my lips are sealed!
