I'm getting the impression that you in fact are the one who has a distorted view of what a Canadian winter is like. Okay yeah it does get cold but I've never dealt with a ten foot snow drift or anything remotely close to it. It doesn't stay -40 for very long. Few days a year it gets that cold.

So you're not exactly in a position to comment, are you.

I have actually spent a fair bit of time in Vancouver and as I've explained on here previously I'd take Calgary any day of the week. Sunny and cold beats pouring down and chilly imo. Plus Vancouver has other downsides, like horrific traffic, smaller houses, higher cost of living, etc.

But I do agree that where you are in BC is okay, I dispute Vancouver being better though.

It gets pretty wet where we are, north of Victoria, but aren't I right in thinking Vancouver is twice as bad (rain-wise)? In which case it must be pretty wet there. Although the prospect of persistent sub-zero temperatures is equally unappealing.

Does anybody proactively move to Canada for the better weather than the UK?

Certainly I am a position to comment and to judge, I've visited and its horrible. Its bloody cold and its cold for a bloody long time in most parts of Canada. I'm not saying Vancouver is a picnic in winter, it rains a hell of a lot and is unbelievably grey, but its not that cold compared to the rest of the country.

So you did. I skipped past it thinking it was a quote of a previous post and having read everything so far, I didn't look again.

I'm almost certain that you have previously and reasonably suggested judging Canada from visiting is not a good idea.

I refer you to the first video, note the terms "millions of Canadians" "winter never seems to end" "snow piled up to the roof" plus she says "brace yourselves" a lot. That can't be good.

Rain and grey is more depressing than sunny and cold imo. Which is why I could never live in Kelowna, which is in fact much drier than Vancouver, too grey during the winter.

Okay you don't want to go out when it's cold but you don't want to go out when it's raining either. So if you're looking out a window I'd rather it were sunny.

I'm all for snap judgements, plus didn't say I visited the other parts voluntarily.
