Well at least you can legally stay until then but as others have said because you are tied to that TWP you cant work for anyone else until you either change your conditions via CPC Vegreville
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/ex....asp#different

or get the new TWPs on LMOs that have been issued.
Sorry to hear about your situation but unfortunately it happens to quite a lot and this sort of incident needs to be dealt with.

They don't need to change conditions do they? Surely they just stay as they are - his TWP becomes a Visitor Visa if he can no longer use it and she is on a Vistor Visa anyway?

Maybe give these people a ring http://www.isisns.ca/ It's the immigrant settlement and integration services based in Halifax. Maybe they can help with housing or even the training/test your husband needs. So sorry you are in all this trouble. I really hope you'll find a solution soon.
And I admire your strength, not a word of complaint or moaning. You get an A* for that. :D Sorry can't help more!

Only if he gets a different job within that company. As long as they stay as they are until they get new TWPs there is no need to apply for a change in status but you know how some people read only bits of the CIC website for example
Your job is extended or changes
If your job is extended or changes, you must apply to extend or change the conditions of your existing work permit before it expires.
The package includes the application guide and all the forms you need to fill out. Download and print the application package.

As opposed to
You are offered a different job in Canada
If you are offered a different job in Canada, you must apply for a new work permit.
Do not start your new job without a new work permit.
The package includes the application guide and all the forms you need to fill out. Download and print the application package.

Its the wording that is different and if not read correctly causes confusion.
Some people think getting a new job is the same as changing jobs within a company they already work for.

So at the moment there is no need to change anything.

Well, I'll be honest and say I don't understand the ins and outs of LMO's or TWP's or the bureaucracy involved, but here in S.W. Ontario they're screaming out for AZ drivers (presumably the same as Class 1.) I have a customer of mine who runs a transport company, if you think it might help, I could talk to him.

thankyou, we will look into this ASAP, will it have to be done by the new employer or can it be done by us?

Have the employer call them and explain the situation.

Has he done any training here in Canada yet?? Did they (the employer) pre arrange with you an arrival date???

Has he taken and passed the written test and Air Brake Endorsement???

As for the LMO process going through at the moment it is for a Retail managers job, and was initially started last week. And from what we believe could take upto 3 months??

So it seems, with one person employed with a work permit, who cant go out and work because of manning shortages, and the other just starting the process it sees we are back at square 1

we thought about applying to agencies as he still has the SIN and MSI but is this legal??

Just thinking about this now - if he received an LMO for a position that appears to be a non-position, he should consider reporting the company to HRSDC. It would seem an enourmous waste of time and money (yours especially) if there was no intention of pushing your husband through on his training so he could do the job and earn money.

Did they agree a date for your Husband to start work?

We were thinking the same thing ;)

There may be other solutions though.

I'd echo Jerico's advice- speak to the landlord, and be upfront with them they might just surprise. Good luck x

the employment was acquired as well as the lmo and work permit, after we arrived in Canada

he has completed his written test as well as the air-brake endorsement, and also paid for his class 1 test.....
