Default Travel Insurance for long term stay

Hi Brits,

I am in the process of Spousal Sponsorship. I am about to extend my visitors status and also need to get some health insurance. I am extending my status for 12 months and I am wondering if anyone knows of a travel insurance company that would insure me? I am a little concerned that as I am immigrating they won't insure me.

Many thanks

Zoe

You'll almost certainly need to go through a specialist insurer as normal travel insurance won't cover you; often they'll only pay for local treatment if it's low cost or they can't fly you back to the UK for the NHS to deal with.

I used a company called something like Canadasure when I emigrated; I don't know if they do year-long policies, and I don't know whether they pay up if you get sick as I didn't have to use the cover.

You could look at these too

http://www.safevisit.ca/faq-14.html

https://www.hsbc.ca/1/2/personal/ban...-insurance/faq

http://www.rbcinsurance.com/travelin...rs-plan-3.html

Or multiple quotes here: http://www.visitorsinsurance.ca/

A google search of 'visitors health insurance' brings many up.
