i just opened my hsbc account today

if i had of let them know 5 weeks before my date of travel i wouldnt have had to do any setting up in canada, they take care of everything al i would have had to do is go in and sign my name and the cards would have been sitting there

seem's the best way i can find to do it.....5 pound per transfer...if its 10 pound or a 1000

No you can't as you are only allowed one PayPal a/c. However, you can still get money transfered to your UK accounts by having your partner/spouse, friend or whoever really with a Canadian PayPal a/c transfer the funds to your UK PayPal a/c, and then you just withdraw the funds into your UK bank a/c from PayPal.
I have a UK PayPal account and my wife has a Canadian PayPal account. Each month I transfer some funds into our joint BMO a/c and from there she does a PayPal transaction to my UK PayPal a/c (there is a small charge but much much less than I was getting charged by BMO for the same transactions). I then simply withdraw the funds to my UK bank a/c simple as that.
It does usually take around 3 days for the funds to show in my UK bank a/c so make sure you factor that time in your transactions.

Hope this helps

You can have 2 paypal accounts - one with paypal.ca and one with paypal.co.uk. You need to have bank accounts in both countries. I have transferred money this way and it was fairly easy and fee free. The exchange rate is not the best so you lose out there but for small amounts it is fine. If you have a credit card in Canada as a back up source for Paypal the transfer is instant and you can transfer it to your bank account straight away, and then it takes 2-3 days to clear.

You should be able to open a bank account without an address, just use your work one in the interim. You need a sin card though to open an account. We managed to open an account while still living in a hotel using a work address for correspondence.

Just wanted to back this up as the cheapest option I found. I send monthly payments to the UK from a Canadian paypal account to a UK paypal account. Each are linked to bank accounts in their respective countries.

Although I think there are certain withdrawal limits to a bank account.

Edit: After a search through Paypal I've found I have a receiving limit of GBP 1,900 per year. (my account is verified)

Yes.

And obviously make sure you log out of paypal.ca before trying to register on paypal.co.uk
