If you have the flexibility then why not do an overland cross-Canada tour and stop off at some other major cities on the way e.g. BC Interior (Kamloops/Kelowna), Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Winnipeg...etc. If you like the look of somewhere then just stay a little longer so you get more of a feel for the place..if you don't like what you see then move on to the next place.

You may find that some of them just look the same as where you have already been but somewhere on the way may float your boat.
