Canada is home.

I'm dividing Xmas between Ste-Catherine-De-La-Jacques-Cartier and the Dominican Republic.

I spent the first 17 years of my life trying to escape ever having to spend another horrendous Christmas with my family (I'm 27 to put it into context).

I certainly wouldn't want to waste my valuable annual leave returning to blightly where I would feel so guilty I would see them.

Mr L2S and I are off to Sun Peaks with 10 other young prof "orphans" for 5 days staying in a luxery slope side cabin!!!!!!

As Souvenir said - Canada is home - so I definitely wouldn't say we're "going home" but, yes, we are going to spend Christmas in the UK this year.

I assume all who consider Canada 'home' are citizens of this fine country?

No, not even PR (yet) in my case, but Canada's home because that's where I live, my house is here, my wife & kids are here, and this is where I intend to stay.

But I guess, growing up as a military child, the concept of "home" may not have had the same emotional ties to a specific place that many others doubtless have. Home is, as the saying goes, wherever I hang my hat.

Ditto, 110% (Well, if you substitute "husband" where Oakvillian wrote "wife", of course!)

I've been a citizen for a bit more than a year. Canada's been home for a great deal longer than that.

Staying put.
