Hi all, And Happy New Year,
We finally had our PR Visas through, Christmas week after 30mths from first applying.
We are moving to Vernon in the Okanagan BC in June and now have to get serious about everything we need to be doing or have to do, can anyone point us to a particular forum, site, or thread covering this thanks.
All the best Paul

Themcardies - very best of luck. It has suddenly got scary I have found. I wake up in the night in a big panic, thinking that I won't get everything done. It all suddenly changed on 31/12.....suddenly we are moving to Canada THIS year! I am practically certain that this time next year we will be happier than we are now, but the time in between seems like a big unknown possible pitfall.

Congrats Paul,
Wishing you the best of luck with your move.
We are moving over in March this year

, all these emotions are playing up together (lol)
There is an icon called WIKI on the blue bar above and that is where I got my list of things to do before departure UK to Canada. Really helpful.
Best Wishes and a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi,
We go on Fri
We only picked up our visas in Dec so it's been a bit of a rush but we managed.
We followed the Wiki list too, and I had a notebook and crossed off things as I did them.
My advice would be to start clearing early... We moved into a rental in Nov and I thought I had been ruthless before that, but when it came to shipping I realised just how much junk I had held on to. Have just spent an evening shredding 20 year old diaries!
If you are able to, try to finish work at least a week before you go. We were able to just concentrate on things that needed to be done, make trips to the tip etc.
Good Luck and Happy New Year.

Oh oh oh, themcandles, thank you for starting this thread. If Mhut, Deeny and The Kellys5 can stay reasonably sane, then I'm sure I can just about manage. Mhut, it is just so true though, there are these normal organised times and then these seconds when I just stop and think Oh Dear God! Even my lists now have lists.... Very best of good luck to us one and all!

If you've got property you need to sell, sell it early and get yourself into a rental. It gets one task out of the way but it also forces you to confront the issue of how much of your stuff you really need to keep. Even if you're in a rental, try to get packed up and out of it at least a day before you fly (stay with friends/family if possible or in a hotel near the airport). I also agree about finishing work early. There's always more to do than you realize.

Well, I have yet to be accepted to college, sell the property and get the study visa but other than that, everything is looking very real right now and I am too going in to the "ohmahgodohmahgodohmahgod" mode.
Started clearing stuff and am ruthless. Started getting quotes for shipping stuff and animals. YIKES!!!
Got to be more ruthless in clearing and packing.
The todo list in the wiki is priceless.

Very useful list in the wiki!
I noticed that International Driving Licence/Permit is included and since you're moving to BC, you won't need to bother obtaining one as it isn't recognized in this province.
