No need for the sarcastic comment either!
Anyway back to the topic at hand. Has the OP managed to sort out his return yet via one of the online tax return packages

Re: Tax Returns - Canada
Husband is just getting round to doing his tax return (we arrived in September 2014 and he started work in November) so this has been super helpful. Thanks

Re: Tax Returns - Canada
Hi Guys
Just wished to see if everyone has received there tax refund back by now?
I sent my return off to the following address as they advised:
Canada Revenue Agency
Tax Centre
9755 King George Boulevard
Surrey BC V3T 5E6
Its been just over 6 weeks and I haven't heard anything from the CRA about my tax return. Iv not even received an assessment from them?
It was my first time and I did have to send this via mail. Does the 6 weeks processing time still relate to these types of submissions?
Just worried as I haven't received anything from them in 6 weeks??
Thanks
Mark

Oh really Eddmac, remembered you was in the same boat as me too sending it for the first time and by mail.
Have you even received an assessment from them? I haven't?
I also called them yesterday and put in my information on the automated service and they have no record of my return. Guessing this might be because it wasn't sent online hopefully.

Next year you will be able to e-file and will get your refund in about 10 days.

Really, so it can take several months for first timers to receive their refund?
It didn't mention that on the website and so I was expecting this to be processed in 6 weeks. That may explain why.

Yep, send mine April 1st to international office from UK as a leaver of Canada and heard nothing back. Expect it'll be a good while before I hear back, a friend received theirs in September after sending beginning of last year

As stated earlier, my daughter was a first time filer this year. She was able to file online using Simple Tax. She received her refund (check in the mail) about a month later. However, she is a Canadian citizen so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

It does. She is already in the system.

Re: Tax Returns - Canada
How so? She had never worked in Canada before and this was her first tax return. She has a SIN but so do a lot of other people who are not Canadian citizens (e.g. PRs). In fact, her inability to request her refund by direct deposit when filing for the first time (without jumping through another hoop) was because she wasn't "in the system" - we got that directly from CRA.

Re: Tax Returns - Canada
Because, when a person tries to file a return on-line, the CRA's system does some data matching to verify the identity of the filer. One example is it checks if the date of birth on the tax return is the same as the date of birth they have recorded against the filer's SIN number. If they cannot complete this verification they will reject the file.
Most Canadian children's SINs and dates of birth are in the CRA's system as their parents claimed them as dependents on their tax returns. Therefore most Canadian children can file their first returns on-line. New immigrants cannot.
