Same with my T4, do I have to mail a copy of that with the forms as well?

The T4 has two parts, top goes with your Tax form and you keep the bottom.

Nobody mentioned the Turbotax netfiling issue yet?

A few days ago MrsBristolUK did her mum's return expecting to be able to netfile it (having mailed it last year) but it was impossible to save in the way required for netfiling to work.

Apparently the Turbotax help forums are full of reports of problems and several promised fixes yet to materialise.

Or has someone found a way around it? Other than mailing them?

Ok cool, that definitely makes sense. What about my metropasses?

Thanks for your help!

Keep them. You don't send them with you tax return but there is a possibility that the CRA may ask to see them if they select your return for review.

Maybe they fixed it then. I'll tell MrsB.

Just my experiences here:

used H & R block for the first time last year for my first Canadian Tax refund. I used Turbo Tax initially to see how I could get but felt more comfortable doing it in person as it was the first return.

They managed to get me significantly more than Turbo Tax and the whole process took about 30 minutes. This was with a '9' Sin number. I had my refund in the form of a cheque 8 days later.

Amazing that they got your new resident's first time return processed in only 8 days

I've put on the form to pay directly into my bank account. Will I get a letter/confirmation or anything to say when it's being done ?

Check your bank account details to see if paid in. Once direct deposit is set up normally no notification is given just the standard message will be deposited into account.

I believe CRA will mail you a "Notice of Assessment" which contains a summary and results of your return

Correct, but there can be quite a delay before this arrives after the actual deposit has happened.

Just to complete this thread - my direct deposit was made to my account yesterday so a day over 5 weeks from mailing to refund for my first paper filing. This was in Ontario if it makes a difference over provinces.

As iaink mentioned - I haven't received the "notice of assessment yet"

I efiled March 1st, Refund was in my account March 12th, and the notice of assessment (dated March 12th) arrived a week or so later.

I efiled for my wife the same time. Her cheque arrived last week... I thought they had her bank details (they deposit child benefit in her account), but apparently not. There seems to be a lack of integration between what one side of CRA does and the other?

So you can split a UK military pension then? In past years I have not tried that with mine because the CRA guidance (http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/t.../qlfy-eng.html) uses the term "pension fund or plan", and military pensions are not paid from a fund. Have I been seeing myself off?
