Taking a Snake with us....
Hi all,
When we emigrate (staying positive) to Canada, we would like to take our pet snake with us if possible. He is a 10 year old Corn Snake (his name is Snakey, original, huh?). He is about 5 - 6 feet long.
Was wondering if anyone knew what was needed, or if it was even allowed to take them with us? Also we are worried about keeping him warm enough during the flight over, if we are allowed to take him.
Cheers
Ian

Hi
You don't even need an import permit anymore. see: http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/...turtlese.shtml But finding an airline that will carry it might be a different kettle of fish. BA says it transports reptiles. http://www.baworldcargo.com/products...eanimals.shtml

Don't know about snakes but I did take a reptile, we have a tortoise. We used Ladyhaye to transport and they were fine. We had other problems which I detailed in previous posts. I wasn't too worried about warmth as I felt she would be less active if she was cooler anyway and sleep more. Her box was specially made and Ladyhaye sorted it out for us.
Not all airlines will take reptiles, we used Zoom. We needed an endangered species export licence, an import licence to Canada and a vet report, but you may not need all these. Luckily she was about to hibernate as the vivarium was shipped and took 5 weeks!
