Default Taking on a car lease?

Has anyone had any experience of taking on a car lease? We have seen web sites where you can take over someone elses car lease for the duration of the lease and sometimes you get a cash sum for doing so.

Just wondered if anyone had done this and if it is as good as it seems?

My wife took over a lease on a Mazda protege for 6 months a few years ago. (Done through the Mazda dealership)

Couldn't see a downside, as someone else had already stumped up a significant down payment to get the payment lower. Dont know anything about money back or doing it through a website, but it worked well for us at the time as we needed a reliable second vehicle with low payments.

The only things to watch out for I can think of is that any damage present when you take possession of the vehicle is documented and provision is made so you dont get dinged for the damage at the end of the lease. Also, make sure there is enough mileage left in the lease for your purposes, otherwise the excess km charges will rack up quickly.

Red face Re: Taking on a car lease?

funnily enough i am trying to get a lease car at the moment on a 3yr deal as we only submitted for our PR IN JULY 2005, ALTHOUGH I WOULD FEEL BETTER WITH A 2 YEAR DEAL!!!
good ones i have found for a punto or panda for 20,000 miles per year are:
''the right way vehicle consulting''0161 9698999 www.trwvc.com
newgate finance on 0870 8502950
acorn contract hire on 01746 769933
tilsun vehicle contracts limited on 0845 458 4448
cars and vans online, bob hodgson on 01254 201111
www.alphaleasing.co.uk, i may deal with them if they can beat trwvc on their quote.
do not put down more than 3 months rental deposit.
tell them to drop the documentation fees.
all the above do all sorts of cars, but my best is a panda 1.1, 3yrs @ £117.50 with 3 months rental deposit, 20,000 with trwvc, including VAT. this is a personal contract hire deal.
hope this helps.
