Stock up before leaving UK

For those of you who already are living in Canada, if you knew then what you know now, what would you have bought in large-ish quantities before you left the UK?

Blackcurrant squash. We've even seen Marmite here, but the concept of squash seems to have eluded Canadians so far.

I got Orange Squash at Sobey's the other day after a tip from someone of BE. Don't know is you can get in where you are it's made by Granthams. Also Ribena is pretty easy to find here just a little more expensive.

And to answer Judy's question Jelly Babies!

Be advised there doesn't seem to be much of that variety left any more, it's been unofficially renamed "rare sense". ;)

As for sausage rolls.....my mother in law, who has lived in Canada since the mid 60's has done an exhaustive search and declares to any one who will listen that President's Choice (Superstore) own brand frozen sausage rolls are the closest you will find to 'proper' english ones.....They are pretty good...

Lorne sausage. Yes, you can buy it at selected 'British/Scottish' food stores but it costs a fair bit more.

Are they inferior to UK bras, and if so, how? People should be made aware of these things before they go traipsing across the globe, it's a long way to go to end up walking around commando.

All we used to buy was Canadian strong cheddar, in fact the shelves were stocked high with Canadian cheddar at Tesco's.

I can only find nice cheddar in a few places here.:huh:

Bras and matching underwear. All the Canadian stores seem to think that no-one is bigger than a D cup. It's a pet peeve of mine, but I console myself with splurges on Figleaves.com and then sending the stuff to my parents in bulk, who then mail me a package of used underwear.

Count me in on the Old Job front too. Mine sucks :(

Got them at New Years. The pastry is spot on but the filling is more frankfurterish.

I'm intrigued, really, how can you go wrong?! Some elastic, some material, varying degrees of fanciness....it's hardly a major feat of engineering. Perhaps I'll set up my own bra business :p *off to check out self employed visas*

Yep, I demand a Wiki on the subject of Canadian bras. This could be a deal breaker for some people, along with hair straighteners and car stuff I don't understand.
