Sure those on the IEC won't know until they apply for a job but if arranged employment then surely that question should have been asked.
Canada & the USA are not the EU. If vacation time is important then don't move here.
Why quit a job in the UK with good vacation time?
Next you will be moaning about the price of cheese or cell phone plans or the lack of Robinsons squash and mushy peas.
i checked everything out AND i can get mushy peas and robinsons squash lol a tad expensive though but i like to treat myself now & then lol

Well that sucks. I worked for the health authority in kelowna and got 4 weeks vacation straight away and qualified for 100% sick pay and a generous pension after 3 months. Unfortunately, it was a 3 year contract, otherwise I'd still be there! I can see I need to do some more research. Even my husbands vacation allowance as a pharmacist at a big box store is better than that!

Whereas my hubby has been with the same company 9 years, and gets 3 weeks. Nobody except management get any sick pay. I think he goes up to 4 weeks next year. Only management get more than that ever. The pension seems pretty good though. Average health benefits from what I can work out. He has tried to negotiate on the vacation days, but they won't budge - same rules for everyone there I guess.

Yes, we knew before we came, didn't realise how hard 6 years of bugger all holiday would be, but did it anyway, and we're still standing. He arrived in February that year, and was given 3 days for the rest of that year. Then 2 weeks for 5 years, then 3, although they've decided that he can have his 4 weeks next year as they changed how the company works that.
