Hi,

I am basically from India, and right now working in U.S ( under h1 visa) I applied for the candadian PR and got the landing papers to canda. But I have'nt landed canada yet. Now, I got married to an Indian girl, who, right now staying in India. And now I want to get the spouse visa before I land in canada. I heard from my friend that getting a spouse visa when she is in India will take minimum 10 months.

My question is, what is the time duration for my spouse(living in India) to come canada, once I apply for he spouse visa, before I land to canada. Which is the best way to get the spouse visa at the earliest time duration

Thanx in advance.

Regards,
swarsak

If you got married after your landing papers were issued and you haven't
landed before changing marital status then your visa is now invalid. It has
been granted to you as a single person, without checking the admissibility of
your wife and now the only solution (as well as the fastest one) is to return
your visa to the post which issued it, together with marriage certificate,
wife's application, all necessary documents and fees. Do not attempt to land
with your current visa now - you will get yourself into a lot of troubles and
mess hard to clean.

Hello Swarsk,

You cannot sponsor your wife until you are a permanent resident (landed
immigrant) My suggestion to you is to come to Canada as soon as possible and
activate your visa so that you can initiate your spousal sponsorship as soon
as possible.

The best antidote to long processing times is to get the normal applications in
as quickly and as well prepared as possible. The longer you spend trying to find
ways of shortening the process the longer the process will end up taking.

Ber,

You probably missed the most important fact from Swarsak's post - he changed
marital status after receipt of immigration visa as a single person, but before
landing. In such case he can't land now as his current visa became invalid by
change in marital status.
