Hi All
I've recently accepted a job in Toronto and I'm now just waiting for my work permit application to go through in the next couple of weeks. I'm hoping that (as I already have a positive Labour Market Opinion) I will be able to get out there by the end of the month.
Though I've been to Canada on a few occasions on holidays (and loved every second of it!!), a big move like this is pretty daunting!! I guess the hardest thing will be not knowing anyone there when I arrive!!
I'd be interested to hear how others have got on with similar moves. Is there anything I should be worried about in particular? At the moment I'm more excited by at all than scared, but maybe that will change as the move gets nearer......

Welcome to BE Shooter. Congratulations on your new job
Have been to Toronto several times myself on holiday - I love it! However, we moved to Nova Scotia earlier this year cos OH got a job. Love it here too!
There a quite a few people on here live in TO so hopefully they will give you a shout

Thanks to everyone for their messages so far. I'm genuinely encouraged that so many others have been through what I am about to pursue and have only positive things to say about it.
As for my user name, my first name is Gavin, surname begins with Mc and I love Happy Gilmore!! Seemed like an obvious choice really!!

Hi Gavin:
I do live in Toronto (mid-town), so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Good idea you're making the move before winter hits; at the moment, we're still having summer-like weather so hurry!.
Good luck and hope you'll be very happy in your adopted country.

Toronto is a very large city, like London etc, it is made up of a variety of communities and where you go to live pretty much determines your environment.
You may or may not need a car, depends upon where your job is, you may like the area or hate it, but until you can give some details it is hard to provide input.
