Soon to be moving to Toronto
Hi All
I've recently accepted a job in Toronto and I'm now just waiting for my work permit application to go through in the next couple of weeks. I'm hoping that (as I already have a positive Labour Market Opinion) I will be able to get out there by the end of the month. Though I've been to Canada on a few occasions on holidays (and loved every second of it!!), a big move like this is pretty daunting!! I guess the hardest thing will be not knowing anyone there when I arrive!! I'd be interested to hear how others have got on with similar moves. Is there anything I should be worried about in particular? At the moment I'm more excited by at all than scared, but maybe that will change as the move gets nearer...... Gav |

Re: Soon to be moving to Toronto
Thanks to everyone for their messages so far. I'm genuinely encouraged that so many others have been through what I am about to pursue and have only positive things to say about it.
As for my user name, my first name is Gavin, surname begins with Mc and I love Happy Gilmore!! Seemed like an obvious choice really!! |
Re: Soon to be moving to Toronto
Too right, Happy Gilmore's a great film :D

Re: Soon to be moving to Toronto
Hi Gavin:
I do live in Toronto (mid-town), so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Good idea you're making the move before winter hits; at the moment, we're still having summer-like weather so hurry!. Good luck and hope you'll be very happy in your adopted country.:) |
Re: Soon to be moving to Toronto
Toronto is a very large city, like London etc, it is made up of a variety of communities and where you go to live pretty much determines your environment.
You may or may not need a car, depends upon where your job is, you may like the area or hate it, but until you can give some details it is hard to provide input. |
