Yes there is a lot of scammers on craigslist, Id also mention do not be put off being a bit pushy, with our latest rental I was literally at my wits end seeing places we liked and missing out. So with our current place I waited for everyone else from the viewing to go and then asked the landlady what would it take to secure the place. It didn't cost us anymore and explaining what we had been through seeing so many places before did the trick.
