Depends on where you mean in Canada.

Here in Calgary, it lasts until the next chinook, melts, turns to slush which then freezes into sheets of ice. Then more snow falls on top... rinse and repeat until about the end of April.

We don't have any foyer at the back door but in the winter access the outside through the attached garage. So our mud room is about 12 x 22ft then.

Here the snow arrived Sunday. There is a fair chance it'll be gone sometime soon but also a reasonable chance it'll be here until April. This years first snowfall was a 35cm 12hr snowstorm. So much for easing into snowclearing gently then!

Here in Edmonton, we had a "major" (for Edmonton standards) dump of snow over the weekend. With the temperatures now being -27, the snow will be here until it thaws in the spring (probably April). Edmonton doesnt really get the chinooks that Calgary gets, so it never warms up enough for the snow to melt.

All children, (and especially teenagers), should be fitted with those. My 18 yr old has one on his eyebrow, but it doesn't seem to work as an "off switch" so I'm not sure what it is.

Well as someone else says it depends where you are- we are near Charleston Lake and we had snow last November (2009) and never saw the grass again until the end of April 2009.

You do get fed up with shovelling it, even with a snow blower- and if you live down a back road like we do, then you are lucky if the snow plough comes before 10.00AM!

Yesterdays BIG storm deposited 12 inches of snow followed by rain and then it all froze overnight to a compacted ice bank- been very very windy here today- did'nt sleep a wink all night cos I thought the house was going to blow away!

Everyone else in the area got 22 cm.... nearer 8 inches (Which was actually a record here (Trenton) for Dec 9th.) I've a feeling that now its here we are probably stuck with it now till spring given how cold its suddenly got too.

That wind was something else, never mind your house, it sounded like the Stirling Arena was going to blow away last night! I suppose we should be grateful for the rain on top now...at least the frozen crust prevents it all blowing everywhere.

I agree-our snow has a thick icy crust on it, so looks like its here to stay.

We have a Shelter Logic temporary garage outside to store the wood for the woodstove, and we had already installed it on wooden plinths that themselves were anchored to the ground with 3 ft rebars, then we bolted the legs of the garage to them- and yesterday it still looked as though it was going to take off.

Ended up shovelling a load of snow up against the edges and the front to fill the gaps so the wind could'nt get under it!! Scary!

Looking to move nearer to Kingston next year, so will be looking out for something less exposed!!

I found it funny as he was taking the p#ss out of a sterotype - when you tell people you are emigrating to Canada they all say that it is always cold there and snows all the time!

Perhaps its because you have psychic abilities or it might be as I posted the link initially and I said I found it funny originally?
