Default skills assessment

Hi guys, im a little confused!

My hubby is a newly qualified plumber and i was lead to believe you needed 5 years exp to get to Canada?

Now i was checking the job bank on the CIC website and theres jobs on there requesting only a years exp?? So does that mean with the min 1 yrs exp he could maybe go on the PNP? Also, how does he get his qualifications assessed? Does he have to sit a test like Australia?

He has been a community worker for 3 years but had no qualifications and when we looked that up it appears there is loads of work for them and it says you don't always have to have quals if you have exp instead?

So where do we even start???

Any help would be great as we feel like were chasing our tails! x

I believe you have to pass the Red Seal to come and work here - maybe take a look in the Wiki and you should find the information you need.

Welcome

thanks amy i have checked red seal and it hasnt really shed much light. i find it very misleading the fact that the CIC says min 1 yr exp but then elsewhere says 5 yrs! it is for this reason weve looke dfurther into australian immigration as canada just seems very confusing and hard? we are tryint to not give up as i feel we nee to make sure we are doing the right thing, i think i may have to speak with an emigration agent

Not an expert by a long shot but afaik for a skilled worker PR application you need to have a years experience in your applicable trade. This link has a load more info including a link to the list of occupations allowed...

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigra.../apply-who.asp

Im not sure if you ahve to thave the red seal to work or whether it just makes you more employable but Im sure someonme will lbe along who does

hope this helps and good luck with your application!!!
