Well if you're interested there's a great meet up group through FB for Hamilton and Burlington. I've been twice and it's a good laugh.

I'm on there too but haven't managed to get to a meet up yet :)

I don't know about transit although I have seen a lot of buses in my little bit of Hamilton....

If you don't want anything scummy I would think you could get something nice for $1300 probably even less... There's an airport here too you could work at... nice chilled kind of place!

Transit is good within the City, there are buses going all over and you can transfer from one to another at no additional cost. There's also the GO bus / train to Toronto and places in between. Go outside the City though and transit is a little less available.

Rents have increased over the past few years but lower cost housing is still available. You can get a 2 bedroom apt in one of the highrise blocks from around $900, or a basement apartment from $950, including heat and water. House rental is more, but you can still find the odd small one for under $1300.

:)

Anything under 1000 is a good price...especially for a 2 bed.

May have to look into Hamilton as long term Vancouver isnt going to lead to much.

900 for a 2 bed sure beats 1450 for a 0 bed...lol

What you'll get for $900 for a 2 bed might not be in the most desirable neighbourhood, though. There are a few areas that are not great in Hamilton, but loads of really nice places too.

True. We are used to living in not so good areas. Although not sure if Hamilton bad is worse then Vancouver bad or about the same.

We live only 5 to 7 mins away from DTES in Vancouver so we see a fair amount of not so good stuff and some petty crimes.

1,450 to live in Vancouver paradise...ha ha

I think you would definitely get more for your money here.
Take a look on Kijiji and realtor as you're the only one qualified on here to know what you would like.
Siouxie will know much better than me where the no go areas are as I've only been here a short while but I'm learning fast....
