Hi all,

​​​​​​As service Canada want proof of address online for SIN application, how can one go about this.

I'm moving out in 5 months but my sister asap and she's a citizen who's in the UK. As we were born here, no SiN.
Anyone who is currently doing this or offer advice?

I think you fill find that SIN numbers are not given to those who are physically not in Canada. Once you arrive in Canada SIN numbers take less than a day to be issued in normal times. At the moment you currently don't need one.

As Former Lancastrian says when you are in Canada you can just go to a Service Canada office with the paperwork and they will issue you a number while you wait.

Currently the offices seem to be closed and the applications online.

Yes the offices are closed due to Covid 19 and one would hope they will be reopened before you arrive in Canada in approx 5 months.

I'm there in 5 months but my sister already packed the UK house and handed in her notice so she will go over to Calgary ASAP...So she's trying to organise an address ect.

Looks like you can apply via mail without the proof of address, but I think this involves mailing original documents to Service Canada
