Default Shipping quotes update...

Hi all,

Just wanted to share the final quotes we received. Not as bad as initially thought, the moral of the story is get everyone in the Yellow Pages to come round, don't leave it at 3 companies or you could end up with the most expensive

These are for 700 cubic feet (average, estimates varied wildly from company to company) going from Glasgow to Winnipeg. Some are shared container, some are sole use but all are the cheapest quote from each company.

All quotes excluding insurance, in descending order...

Bonner.................£4,500
Gerard.................£4,250
Anglo Pacific.........£4,285
Constantine..........£3,800
Britannia..............£3,765
Allied Pickfords.....£3,410
UTS Bon Accord....£3,250
Bishop's Move.......£3,100

Guess who we're going with?!

Hope this is of use to someone.

There is bound to be a horror story for each company if you search hard enough. Have you checked out each company?

The main bit of advice we can give is to find out how many packers you will be getting on the day and make sure you have one person of your own (yourself, hubby, parents etc) to supervise each packer.

Hi ,
We eventually opted to use Whites. After recieving 5 quotes they came out by far the cheapest, and gave us a few months free storage on top as well.
Might be worth giving them a call beofre you commit?

Regards
Steve & Penny

We're using a company called Avalon..The estimator is coming out in 10 days to give us a quote...But initial estimates were £3500 for a 20ft container, and they seemed to sell themselves well at the show.
