Ok after the thread abit back i have decided that yep i would send back parcels to certain ones this xmas
Apart from canadian post, who else can i use
Whilst in the uk i posted stuff all around the world and used parcels to go, but i can't seem to find any other company here like them
I have done a search and i get UPS and yeah the are 4times more, so is canadian post my only option
Any help

I've given up bothering. It is expensive and annoying scheduling pickups from couriers and Canada Post is ok but in many cases you can't buy them things from here anyway like DVDs are the wrong format and anything eletrical or electronic is iffy. I just buy everything now from the UK via the ineternet and so it is being delivered in the UK and so much cheaper. Plcases like Amazon in the UK sell 10,000 more things, like they do in the US, and the limit is pretty low for free delivery. I've also sent things from Tesco, Boots, M&S etc. much easier.

Canada Post is pretty much it. UPS, FedEx, DHL etc.. are pretty expensive. I got caught this way last year and missed the deadline for airmail (For Ottawa its December 8th). This year I was a bit more organised, if you sent everything by October 23rd you could use surface mail which was nearly half the cost of airmail (for example a 2.4kg package was $120 via airmail but only $60 via surface mail).
Another thing I discovered a couple of weeks ago was that when you send small parcels the Canada Post computer asks the attendant to choose the sorting office closest to where the parcel has to go. The attendant explained that this can cut a few days off the delivery but most of the time they just enter London for the UK and don't bother asking. Could be handy to know if you need to send a parcel somewhere in the north of the UK.
Hope this helps!

thanks for the info
was hoping that they may have some cheap carriers around, canadian post are still working out cheaper though at the moment.
looks like they will get our dosh this year
we have kept the boxes to shoe size and been real creative with what we are sending, but as its our first year, i thought it would be nice to send something back

There's quite a price difference between sending something in a box and sending it in one of those padded envelopes too - go for a padded envelope if you can!
