Default Furniture to buy or not to buy?

Hi

We are not sure if it would be cheaper to buy some new furniture while we are still in England, we will have the room in our container. or wait until we arrive in Canada. Does anyone have any advise?

Thanks Julie

1. Check the prices on line in Canada.
2. Do you have a house already in Canada? If not how will you know if the new furniture will fit in?
3. Note the difference in UK beds and NA sizes, real pain to replace sheets mattresses.

also you would be better posting this in the main forum (not immigration). Or perhaps one of the moderators will move this thread?

This feels like sensible advice to us. There are widely divergent views on whether to ship loads or little. We were "ship a lot" people.

However, we wouldn't have bought stuff at the back end of our time in the UK to fill a container with a view to furnishing a Canadian home. For equivalent money, the properties here are on a different scale and of a different style to that we were used to in the UK and in your position we would elect to leave the container as is and put that same money to work for you here, hopefully exploiting seasonal and other sales to get the best value for your money.

Kind regards,

Eamonn & Janet.
