Hi,
Its been a while since I have been on this forum as we achieved PR over 2 years ago.
My circumstances changed and we haven't moved to Canada yet although we have had a house in BC since 2005. I have not been able to secure a job in BC yet, and as I have a reasonable income in the UK, we stayed put. However, decision time is looming as we need to move soon to maintain PR.
As I understand it, we have to be in Canada for 730 days in any 5 year period rolling, but I think I read somewhere that if you worked for a Canadian company, they could send you abroad and this would still count towards the 730 days. Is this true?
If it is true, is their anything to stop me setting up my own Canadian company, and employing myself to work in the UK? This would only be for a relatively short period (up to 12 months or until I could secure a position in BC).
Hope this all makes sense, and thanks for any help.

2 It is very, very difficult to get a job in BC while you are living in the UK. If you really want to live here you will have to take the plunge at some point.

Hi Jonboye,
Many thanks for your prompt reply with pertinent information. I guess the decision is made now, we will be in BC by October.
This has been a thirty year dream for us to live in BC and the recession has really screwed things up. If we get this wrong, we probably don't have time to recover, both being in our mid fifties.
Thanks anyway.
