Volvo might be a better place to work than Loblaws.I drove a snowplough in Scotland for 8 winters but its nothing to what is in Canada .You will adapt or you will hate it and head back!

Harbour Landing is great , if you don't want your basement doors to close within a year or so , whole place was built on a bog . N Central , avoid as it's the reserve .
Auto insurance through SGI works out at just over a grand per vehicle , it's worth adding a package policy for a few more dollars which covers for deer strkes etc (fully comp) .

Here's the licence link;

http://www.sgi.sk.ca/individuals/lic...residents.html

You have 90 days to exchange it, it also requires a form being sent from DVLA direct to SGI. Not too bad a process.

Our insurance without any no-claims(a hurdle way way to difficult as they don't accept insurance company letters stating no-claims) for a Chevy Trailblazer is $130 a month, we also paid for a package policy for the deer and other bits which cost $150.

Winter is long and damned cold! I am known for not being a lover of cold and I have survived through 1 3/4 winters now. You learn that -40 is cold & -5 is t-shirt weather! Summer is awesome though(except the damned mosquitoes!).

Some companies do, but it has to be worded correctly - however. I don't know about 'Provincial' Insurance.

http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Catego...surance-Canada

https://www1.johnson.ca/auto-insurance and www.melochemonnex.com will take no claims into consideration and I believe http://www.avivacanada.com/ do as well.

:)

Ours is SGI as in Sask. The exact wording they needed, our former insurance companies wouldn't do. It has to be something like to and from dates that insurance held and that no at-fault claims etc. The companies we were with kept producing the same old standard stuff even though we specified what we needed. Husband couldn't be bothered to keep trying in the end, as wasn't worth a major amount of discount and it was so time consuming with the UK side of things.

Re: scottish moving to REGINA

I moved from Manchester to Regina 2 years ago. Some things are a little more expensive, like grocery shopping but other things like car insurance is cheaper. I pay $135 per month for a 2013 Ford Focus. The newer the car the more expensive insurance is and also the bigger the car can effect it. As for places to live, everywhere is pretty nice apart from North Central. When we first arrived her we just bought a used car as finding somewhere that will give you credit when you are new here can be hard! I would recommend getting a credit card with a small limit to help build up credit. What we did was use it for fuel and then pay it off straight away. The winter isn't as bad as what it sounds like! Yes it can get to -50 but as long as you have a good coat, boots and warm trousers you'll be fine!

if you have any questions just let me know :)

Thanks for the reply. Always good to hear good things about my future home. My partner is worried she will be bored as she is unsure as how good the malls are. What's your thoughts on the malls

She's obviously the complete opposite of me then, the thought of even entering a mall fills me with horror, never mind actually choosing to wile away my time in them!

I think you're the first person ever to say that car insurance is cheaper in Canada than the UK! How much did you pay in the UK? If it was really more than £900 then I'm guessing you're very young. One of the benefits of age is cheaper car insurance, mine's only £180 a year!

Don't blame her! But there will be plenty of things she can go to I'm sure. As long as she can drive?

If you look at meetup.com then I'm sure you'll find stuff going on in the area.
