Default Saskatchewan healthcare

Does anyone know how long I should expect to hear back after registering for a Saskatchewan healthcare card? I sent in the form a month or so back and haven't heard anything at all, so I just wanted to know whether they've lost it or are just slow to respond .

Don't know the answer but I wanted to ask you.. where do you go about getting your first three months of health care when you first arrive in SK?

My OH's firm offers a great benefit package after this time.

What did you do?

Ta

Alison.

That sounds like a long time to me to wait for a health card. I would be giving them a call.

They have probably lost it and/or are taking a long time!!!

You can get health insurance for the first 90 days from Saskatchewan Blue Cross or Group Medical Services. You can google both of them and apply on line. I always buy health insurance on line when we are travelling outside the country.

Are you not eligible for instant cover in SK? Seems most arrivals from abroad are - http://www.health.gov.sk.ca/newcomers-benefits .

That's what I'm assuming . But I got a 90-day policy from Canadasure just in case, particularly as we were spending some time in Alberta before we got here.

So I've got about another six weeks on that if the Saskatchewan people take much longer to sort it out.

Hi Mark

Think ours took a couple of months to arrive last year but we were still eligible for healthcare immediately even before the cards arrived, we phoned Sask Healthcare from the UK before we left to make sure and they were very helpful.

But we don't fall into any of those categories on a TWP do we? Is a landed immigrant not someone with PR?

Thanks anyway and hopefully someone will clarify this, if it is true and we can get the healthcare it would be a big weight off my shoulders...one less thing to worry about

I'm sure ours came about 2 months after applying. We thought we werent intitled to the healthcare for 3 months so got the canadasure for those months. But I think you can get it as soon as you land or as soon you apply. I would just ring and check.

Yes but surely someone on a TWP falls under "non-immigrants who are in Canada in connection with their trade or profession" ?

I pointed this out to Carrieann a while back, I can't remember if she was on a TWP, I think so. Maybe she knows more?

Biiiiink..my brain has stopped its normal functioning..all this immigration stuff has fried the last few brain cells I had left

Will speak to Carrieanne next time I catch up with her.

I also sent the SK health peeps an email this morning so when they reply I will update you all.

I must have missed your post about LMO..way to go. When did you apply for it, was it to Regina or Saskatoon office? So you have sent off for your WP to CHC then? We are going to get ours at POE

As soon as the SK Health people reply, I wil let you know

Think our LMO goes down as quickest on record. OH company applied for someone else a while back but they bottled it so i think they could just apply for a change of name for us. We playing it safe with WP and OH not handed notice in on current job until got it! Should be here anytime though hopefully. When are you hoping to go out?

Well on Thursday we will be waiting six weeks for our LMO and we were hoping to go the middle of October originally. Looks like it will be put back now until November.:curse:

We are also waiting our house sale to complete

Basically - we have no idea

BTW, my card arrived last week, so again it was just over two months; seems a lot of time just to process a form and send out a card!
