I think it's a transatlantic variation. The term means twice a month in NA, but once every 2 months in the UK. NA "bi-weekly" is of course "once a fortnight" in the UK.
There are many such similar divergences such as "bill", "pavement" and best of all "pants" I remember, shortly after we first moved to the US, having to run out into the yard to stop my wife from yelling "Here pussy pussy! Here pussy pussy!" |

"oh every fortnight" I said, she didn't have a clue what I meant and said " NO you will be paid Bi-weekly like everyone else" |
Re: Salary Frequency
I get paid every 14 days, none of this bi-weekly malarkey.

Hi All,
All systems go for my arrival in Lethbridge AB. I have been informed that I will be getting paid bi-monthly. Is this the norm ? I have never come across this arrangement while I have been working in the UK. Pete |
Re: Salary Frequency
Thanks All,
Glad to know its the normal way to be paid. Every 2 weeks is fine. Bi-Weekly, sounds like a specialist magazine to me. Pete |

I've been paid weekly, twice a month and monthly.
I think I preferred monthly the most.

The various changes over the years made me a bit OCD about budgeting, which lead to the creation of multiple spreadsheets & a deeper understanding of Excel. Which was a bonus ;) I think. SB |

+1. As mentioned earlier, I do get paid monthly, but I have a son who gets paid twice a month on the 1st and the 15th and not a lot. His rent etc., (for the full month), is due on the first, which means he gets short before the second pay check most months.
Another hit for the Bank of Dad. :frown: Seems these days more money goes out, then comes in. I always have to skip something each month or just pay enough to keep them happy. |
