Default Rented accommodation allowing a dog

Regina - Saskatchewan

So I've been scouring the classifieds and a lot of rentals seems to say they allow pets even though it will incur a non refundable deposit of somewhere in the region of 200 dollars.

But talking to some other expats and locals the feeling is that by pets they mean very small dogs not a lab collie cross. or birds or fish etc.

Supposedly cats are a complete no no and larger dogs very iffy.

Anyone care to confirm or deny? Not in a mad rush to re-home our pet and friend but neither do I want to end up finding it hard to put a roof over the family.

Thoughts?

John

It will probably just depend on the landlord. Best bet would be that if you see a posting for an apartment you like, call the number and say you have x pet and you're wondering what the dealio is if you want to keep your pet. I suspect some landlords will be fine with it, others will want the non-refundable deposit, and some won't care.

"Pet friendly" or "pets welcome" sometimes indicates a greater willingness on the part of the landlord.

If your internet searches include those search terms you may be more likely to find something.
