Base cost for the jam packed 40ft container was around the £5.5k mark. Original quote that we got from them at the beginning of last year was about £700 less but the increase in oil price and value of the Canadian Dollar was not beneficail
.

tfa logistics are a freight forwarder who also are happy to take domestic loads.
i found out about them following an email with an airline as we wanted to find out if our dogs could come on the same flight as us as see if we could get it cheaper than airpets (quoted £2050) . anyway i rang TFA and they are a FF for many airlines and deal with all kinds of cargo. the conversation ensued and we discussed the whole move.
stand back because i had a quote to move from bedfordshire to calgary of
£4500.00 ( final destination to be confirmed but likely to be cochrane or airdrie and to allow an extra £200-300 for transport of cargo to final destination)
this price includes the following..... a 20ft container (self pack) delivered to your home, carriage of 2 dogs as cargo on same flight and flights with zoom for 2 adults and 1 toddler.
needless to say we will be using this company, i told the gentleman concerned that i would be spreading the word on this website and he was happy for me to do that and would welcome further enquiries. i also asked what the delivery time was on the container and he said no more that 15 days max.....i asked why then are other companies quoting weeks and weeks and he said so they can nab you on storage fees. ships follow tight schedules like aircraft and so its in their interest to get to the destinantion and back as soon as poss. he also said that only a removal company will tell you that you need them to pack for you and think about it, you would be paying a minimum of £2500 for someone to bubble wrap your goods....when all you need to be is sensible and pack logically as if moving goods yourself in a lorry......which we have done many times.
hope this helps

am no expert, but i don't see these firms carrying out a 'bubblewrap scam' for the naive.....
just accepted a quote with Whites for sole use of 20ft container
Abdn - Calgary £3800ish plus insurance (includes full bubblewrap - size of bubbles unconfirmed at this time(

im not going to bother any more with this web site...we have our visas now we dont need to pick anyones brains and ask inane questions for asking sake as we have managed so far with out doing so. i was trying to put info out there but as usual there are those who cant wait to knock you down and poo poo it. and for your information my friends self packed a container twice to usa and back and had no breakages either way...common sense prevailed with their packing.
im glad walters family found it useful that was all it was meant to be...another option.
