In Alberta:
The plates cost around $250 and you get them within 6 weeks.
We have 1RR and ZEBRA03 (ZEBRA 3 had already gone).
I want one for my spitfire but am not sure what to get, the obvious ones are gone, the guy before had 73 SPIT, the only way I could have that is if the guy turned it in and I waited 20 years for it to be re-released

I have the plate S0C7. A parent of one of the kid's friends has PURRFECT on an XJ6, another has MORE FUN, also on an XJ6. But there one that stops me in my tracks, the most gobsmackingly lame plate of all time, is one I see in Guelph, COROLLA it says, it's on a grey Toyota Corolla. The driver doesn't wear an anorak, he doesn't look especially failed in life but there's something deeply wrong there.

It's a very geeky joke against myself. A S0C7 is a computer failure, a data exception, caused by trying to do something improbable like totalling the values of bank balance and home address or, in the real world, a man like me being seen in a car like that.

In the 80s I often saw a Ferrari, plated IGO 469, outside bars with backgammon boards in the tables. I suppose that scene has wilted now.

Re: Reg plates / Vanity plate
I was going to get a plate for the Mog with the same letters and numbers (not a "cherished" combination - just an ordinary 1985 B-reg plate) it had in the UK. But I really couldn't see the point in the end: it would have meant nothing to anyone except me and my dad, and I'd better things to spend 300 bucks on.

Re: Reg plates / Vanity plate
I recall, later that decade, someone in the East Midlands with (if my memory is correct) a black Mercedes. There was a rumour going around that the car's owner was a famous actress.
Plate was Pen 15.
This served my childish humour well, first time I saw the plate, I laughed all the way to work
