Redwood Meadows Alberta = Mosquitoes?
We are finally relocating to Alberta after many years of investigation. It's a time in our lives for all 4 of us to relocate, it's nice when you all agree especially with adult children.
We have decided on Redwood Meadows as a location to call home....We would like to know if the misquito population puts a hamper on enjoying the outdoors at home? There are plenty of trees and lots of water for mosquitoes to breed in the area? We like to enjoy the outdoors around our home, garden & deck, enjoy eating outdoors,BBQ etc.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
The information & encouragement on this website is wonderful. We are in our 50's, so taking a big plunge & no looking back! Can hardly wait! Thanks in advance for any info provided.

A lot of the problems you may have with mosquitoes depends on if the area sprays to kill the larvae, if they do, then just a spritz of eau de deep woods off when your spending time outside should suffice. Mosquitoes also tend go in cycles, the big fat lazy ones, then you get the fast super zingy ones and then the oh it's nearly the end of summer ones. The big fat lazy ones have big teeth that will chomp through anything but you usually feel them land so can squish 'em before they do anything.

What are your adult children going to be doing with themselves - are they planning on working, or going to school, etc?
It's a lovely little community but it is a bit of trek to anywhere with amenities, like work, or nightlife, or finding friends, etc. The wintery roads can be, er, interesting.
Will you be buying three or four vehicles?

A bit of interesting information regarding Redwood Meadows:
Redwood Meadows is unique in that it is a partially independent municipality, functioning similar to an incorporated Alberta town, but is different from all other Alberta towns due to:
its location within the Tsuu T'ina Nation 145 Indian reserve;
the leased nature of the land on which it is developed;
and
council's shared administration of the townsite with the Tsuu T'ina Nation Council.
Since the land on which the community is built is leased, I think that probably the houses are all leasehold. Also the lease runs out in 2049.

True - I would be reluctant to buy - no extension to that date yet - but selling your home on again may be an issue.
