I think it`s pretty incredible, OH and I had pics taken there a couple of years ago. The river must be connected to Red Rock Canyon in some way.

I think it's real - the shutter speed has been slowed down, that's all.

I've seen that happen to rivers elsewhere. It's really cool it happened on a waterfall though. Just iron-rich deposits that got washed in most likely.
The halo effects people are complaining about around the trees are most likely caused by the JPEG compression, either on the site or the camera itself. Looks legit to me and it's not that uncommon.
