Hello, could anyone recommend some recruitment agencies i could connect with please? We are locating to Alberta at the end of the year and want to start making contacts now to try and get employment in the Human Resources/Business Consultancy field. We have secured the Federal Skilled Worker visa and have permanent residency status now as we activated our visas at the beginning of the year. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you. Jen

Thank you for the response but i wasnt being lazy i was really asking if anyone had any personal experiences as all i seem to have had so far is bad experiences from some agencies i have tried. As always, its worth asking the question for personal recommendation, or so i hoped.

It may take a while for the Alberta folk to see your post and respond, if they feel they can.
Ignore the first few flippant responses - usually caused by those with non-working visas and too much time on their hands (like me!)

I can't help on the firm names side (I'm in Vancouver), but as a recruiter I do know that you're going to need some "Canadian" experience on your resume, especially in the HR field. That may be a bit of a wall (which can be overcome you just have to preserve!)
If you're not already on LinkedIn I'd suggest getting on that and start some "virtual" networking through the groups (could also help with the referrals as well). Also if you want to be in HR, you're going to need your CHRP, again I can only comment on Vancouver but at the consultancy level Clients want that designation.
Good luck! It can be done, as I know a number of expats who have become successful in the consultancy field.

We're in slightly different fields, my husband & I are both accountants. We registered with Robert Half Management Resources for contract work, and RH Finance for full time.
Not heard much on the full-time side, but there's been a bit of action on the contract side.
The Canadian experience thing is definitely a hurdle to overcome. I've just been offered a 3 month contract with possibly of full time, so I think this is the best way to go. It seems companies want to "trial" you before offering full time, so I'd definitely look at contract work.
Good luck!
