Hi,

Im spending a night downtown Vancouver and feel the need to try a new restaurant. Can anyone recommend the following:

1: An Indian Restaurant
2: An Italian Restaurant
3: Your favorite restaurant.

Thanks
Scott

My sister told me that Vij's is good, but I've never been there myself.

A restaurant with a view

Cable car ride is free if you eat in the restaurant.
Need to book in advance to get in.

Not fancy, but was the best Indian/Sri Lankan food I ever found when living in Vancouver:

Awesome tandoori and butter chicken

Indian Oven in Kits
La tratorria - Italian Kitchen in Kits
Stephos on Davie street is great and very cheap place for greek - rack of lamb a must.

Picking a favourite is impossible. The choice and value of places to eat in vancouver are very impressive -

bon appetite

Also:

http://www.westrestaurant.com/

and

http://www.raincitygrill.com/

The latter has a great view over English Bay.

IMO, Lumiere, when Rob Feenie was the chef was the best restaurant in Vancouver. Curious as to what it is like now. There are no really great restaurants in Vancouver however, but a large number of decent ones.

The restaurant is not downtown but in the Vancouver area. It is called Seasons in the Park and is in the Queen Elizabeth Park grounds. It has amazing views of the city, harbour and mountains. We had a great meal there. We are getting married there this NYE. You will need to book.

We also tried a great Caribbean restaurant in East Vancouver. Need to book but food is excellent and it has a cool vibe.

Have a great time.

Best Indian restaurant is Vij's if you can stand waiting in line to get in. Foodies always appreciate it.

We also liked Chutney Villa at 147 East Broadway - South Indian cuisine (which we love). http://www.chutneyvilla.com/ - much cheaper than Vij's.

Warmly,

Frank

Indian food in downtown Vancouver is mediocre - the best Indian is found outside of downtown.

For Italian, try Il Giardino - http://www.hotelvilladelia.com/resta...ilgiardino.cfm

For an overall favourite restaurant, it depends on the context, but I've had excellent meals here: http://www.boneta.ca/

It's alright but I find the decor, food and atmosphere a bit dated. Apparently it was the hangout for the stockbroking cash-rich coke crowd of the 1980s.
