It is a fantastic deal.

If you get there 20 mins or so before the start, you will likely be able to have your choice of seats on the second level (our preferred vantage point) or the corner areas on the first level, subject, of course, to season ticket holder seats.

I would love to purchase season tickets but, with 4 of us wanting to go, it's a tad pricey.

Just so you know, the thingy you buy at CO-OP only enables you to exchange it for tickets at the Saddledome (i.e., you do not walk away from the CO-OP with your tickets).

We always attempt to get seats in the middle and can, usually, obtain them within half a dozen rows of the front (just above the cameras).

Sundays Hitmen game is now a 6:00pm start moved from 5:00pm to accommodate the CFL fans who might want to watch the Stampeders on TV. ;)

I wondered why it changed, we had it down at 5pm in our calender and notcied this week its now 6pm. 5pm was much better as my kids get tired and that was why we selected the game, so we won't definately go but just play it by ear. Another game in December is our other option

With a 6:00pm start you can expect the game to be over around 8:30pm if that helps any. :)

Just beware that, to a certain extent, you can choose your seats. Pick a section (they have a picture of the seating where you buy the tickets) and ask for their best seats in that particular section. Each time I have gone there, their first offer is section 102. I always politely refuse and ask them if there is anything available in the section in which I wish to sit. I haven't been disappointed yet.:thumbup:

For sure it's a good deal - we're planning on the Teddy bear toss game for 13th December but if you're here on a recce & are trying to persuade a reluctant 13 yr old then a minor splash-out on Flames cheap seats & going early might be something to consider. Especially if you get a cap or something that you can get signed.

Regardless of who you see at the Saddledome though eat first because the food & drink prices are bordering on the obscene!!

Agreed the Roughnecks are a championship team & I laughed so much at the "alternate" Flames names - brilliant! :thumbup:

Bottom line is though that at 13 he'll soon get over it, however reluctant he is at first!! :D

Looking at previous threads on winter tires I was wondering if a hire car would come supplied with these or would we need to splash out on a 4x4?

It wont, and no, you dont need to splash out on a 4x4.


Just slow down and engage your brain and you will survive a few weeks, Snow clearance is what all those taxes pay for, you will mostly be driving on dry pavement. If its really bad weather, then you probably shouldnt be out and about anyway.

Worry about snow tires when you get here permanently. A rented 4x4 wont come with them anyway, so you will be in just as much trouble once you have to stop, and 4x4 will have probably given you an entirely false sense of security about how much traction there really is, so you will likely be going too fast and be in worse shape than if you were in a regular vehicle.

The underlined emphasises two points
a) Iain does NOT read EVERYTHING that we Calgarians post
b) Iain has NOT visited Calgary during Feb.

The city relies on Chinooks to clear the roads, February is likely to have quite a few snow days, If you're going to head to ANY of the ski hills (including COP) you are VERY likely to at the very least be driving on Packed snow if not freshly falling snow.

ALL of that said neither a 4x4 NOR winter\snow tires are going to stop you having a 'crash' if you insist on driving like a prat.

My advice contact the hire companies and see if ANY are fitting (or have fitted) DECENT All seasons (I use them on my 4x4 :o and have NO problems despite OCCASSIONALLY driving like a complete prat)
