No, not yet. Are looking at FSW 1 as Hubby is a plumber - again assuming that this doesn't get taken from the list!! Will be looking at applying beginning to middle of next year.

Really? So you think that age 28 is too old to consider moving to another country?

I'm not taking the piss, I'm asking for my own benefit if I'm honest as that's the age which I'm at right now.

Of course 28 isn't too old. We're having a shot and we're much older. OK, think very carefully about it - what's the absolute worst that could happen? If you feel you could deal with that, well.....?

Our absolute worst is that we don't get jobs. At all. Nothing. Zilch. We'll last max 6 years on the equity out of the house. Then we'd be completely skint and have to beg for welfare from either Canada (if we could get it) or the UK. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but I can't think we'll BOTH be out of work completely for that long.... even given our ancient status.

I said I though it was a bit old, not too old. Its your pigeon if you want to come over after that, just don't come running on here moaning about being under employed, the loss of seniority, lost property equity or poor pension prospects.

I'm with you.
You get to an age where everything is settled and you embrace taking a chance. As per my previous post we do have some equity to lose etc but are in a much more stable state now than we ever have been in.
We see it like this....we have spent the first half of our life here and will spend the second half elsewhere. I fail to see how being older can be overall a negative thing.

I don't even really think about things like property and pensions if I'm honest.

We're relocating anyway - whether we make it to Canada or not. So still have to face loss of property equity and starting again job wise/seniority wise. If we stay in UK only thing that won't be affected is pension.

Age versus youth - each has advantages and disadvantages.

Totally agree with this post, our situation is very simular to yours, although oldest is nearly 13 but keen to make the move, Would she be in two more years though?

Our eldest is nearly 13 too. We're aiming to get in just in time so he gets the final years in high school in Canada (rather than getting stuck in the middle of GCSEs). Other two are 9 and 6, so not as crucial and all three are fine with us wanting to relocate (again).

Where are you headed and how far along in the process are you?

Not even got the form in yet! Nervously hanging on until mid April when we hit the one year in the List of 38. If we could put in the form now, we would!

Looking seriously at NS, but not really sure why, when you read some of the slagging off it gets on here! Would really like to be in Ottawa with my aunt, but that's not going to happen, as neither of us speaks French, so I think we would struggle with employment. Of course we could always go to Toronto (like half the rest of the world) which I do quite like, but thinking it might be just too much like London!

Off out to Toronto/Ottawa/NS in July - bit of a whistlestop tour, but then we are restricted as to how much time we can take off work. Hopefully it will give us some more direction, though. If we get PR, we will do anothe recce then.
