Default Question about employment

Hey there.

In a few months I'll be moving out to Lethbridge as part of working visa holiday from the UK for at least a year. In that time I'm hoping to find a permanent role that could hopefully see myself staying in Canada permanently.

However, my background is in software engineering and I can't seem to find much in the way of programming work in Alberta (though my google skills may be terrible). So I was wondering where the best city to go would be in terms of finding programming work?

Failing that, I'm not too fussed about starting something new. I'm 27 years old but I don't really have any other trade under my belt. Would there be any prejudice held against me if I was to go for an trainee construction job etc?

It's hard to find out this sort of information on line.

I think you would find it quite difficult to find programming jobs in the Lethbridge area, however, there are jobs in both Calgary and Edmonton.

Software Engineer jobs: http://www.workingincanada.gc.ca/rep...rce=8#job_opps

Waterloo, Ontario also has a lot of the tech companies... might also be worth considering. Otherwise, yeah, Toronto would also be a good place for that.
