Ok so we have decided we want to move to Brandon, Manitoba and know there are tonnes of nursing jobs over there, and have decided to go via the provincal nominee program so made some decisions!! Now have loads of questions!! On the information I have found about the provincal nominee program my hubby would need to have a job in place before we can apply for this, so would he need to be registered as a nurse in the area first or can he get a job and then get registered after to save some time? Also it states that you need to have $10,000 plus $2,000 for each dependent which would mean we would need $16,000 and need to be able to show we have this. We are planning on getting this money from our house sale, car sale etc so dont actually have the money right now would we need to sell these before we can even apply to go and then rent or would they take these into consideration? If we sold our house and car now we would make at least £36000 after all the fee's etc so plenty but tied up!! Any advice would be appreciated as we want to move asap

HI There,
I'm no expert, but I do know that you have to have the job offer in place before you can apply for the PNP. That is what we are having to do. It is not a lengthy process though, compared to the 'normal' routes of entry. You are talking about 8 months I think, well that is what we are being told for Calgary, other areas may vary (Gosh, I sound like a commercial!).
We also would need to sell our house and car before we moved, but as long as you are clear that is where your funds are then it should be o.k. I think the wording is around the 'how much are you bringing in'... our difficulty is that with the housing slump we need to sell the darn house!
I may also be wrong on this, but I think the funds you need are only if you are applying to simply emigrate, I am not so sure you need that level of funding if you have a job to go to... it is supposed to be sufficient to live on for the period of time it might take you to find a job and live etc. I am sure though that some other more experienced person in this process could help.
Where are you in the country at the moment? We are going to the Leeds Expo to talk over some of the logistical stuff with the experts, it is on this weekend, there is also another in London shortly after. If you google it you would find it... let me know if I can help further, and good luck!

thanks for the reply, hubby is going to phone the hospitals in a bit and see where that gets him. We are currently in Scotland so havent been affected by the housing slump at the moment (house prices are still increasing in this area). We were thinking of the leeds expo but its slightly too far for us to go with our two young children. We are hoping that there will be something similar in scotland sometime this year so we can go then. It would be so much easier if we went through an agency but i really want to try and save some pennies doing it ourselves.

With regards to PNP you need to have the job offer to apply for this or the LMO route, as for the nursing accreditation I am affraid I know nothing about it but there are a number of nurses on this forum who will be able to help you I am sure.

I asked a while ago on this site about proof af funds and was told by many people that you don´t need this if you are going to work over there.

i am a nurse currently going through the whole process but in BC so there may be some differences. i applied for my registration first prior to applying for a job, this is because most employers ask if you are registerd with the designated nursing body. Also once yoyu get the job offer, it makes things much quicker. In BC the registration process is 2 fold - part before you get the job and part after. You can apply for temp registration once they have assessed your quals etc - then once you get a job you have to have 250 supervised hours and sit the exam then you get Full registration. That may be a bit different in Manitoba - check out the nuring registration website for that area.
PNP - theres 2 ways to do this. PNP can take several months so many employers dont really want to wait such a long time if they can help it. SO, I have found it easier to apply for the job, then a temporary work permit and go over on that - then get sponsorship and apply for PNP once you are actually there, from what I can tell this seems to be a very common way to do it, and also a little quicker too.
feel free to pm if you have any questions - theres loads of helpful nurses on here and im sure someone else will be along to add their bit, or to correct mine.
Good luck
