To get things started, Hockey night in Canada, wojeck & cannonball have to be the best of Canadian TV

I liken the situation to pitting Billy Lee, the best player playing for Accrington Stanley against Cristiano Ronaldo, best player with Real Madrid, the bar is set at two completely different heights. If you compare some great U.S. Shows against the good British shows then that I believe is a closer match.

Again, if it doesn't bother you, it doesn't. It would me. People at work learn the plot of a series so they know who lives and dies and then they watch it so the order of the episodes doesn't matter; they already know what's going to happen. That may be fine but I don't think it's better than having the episodes presented in a more logical order.

My point was, that doesn't happen imx. They do show them in order unless it's a repeat.

And might they like it because it meets their requirements which might in other words mean it's good?

I realise that 'popular' doesn't necessarily mean good but sometimes it does and, frankly, it's a bit silly to be in denial about it, opinions aside.

Coronation St, Eastenders etc have no appeal for me but I'm not daft enough to think they're not any good.

Look, you said Spooks was on for a long time. It was on here, for the first season and then they dropped it because no-one was watching. Ergo, by either standard, it was crap.

And Coronation St is on here so how does that prove anything?

OMG, did either of you follow what I said earlier? It's very hard to list any decent UK TV show that isn't on here! So far we've come up with two credible candidates, maybe three. On the flip side we have all the US channels so you actually get to watch the US TV shows that are on in the UK the way they were originally broadcast and usually earlier than they are on in the UK.

The way you two are talking you'd think it was a completely different thing. It's not! And Canadian TV does also have some of the decent French stuff on too.

From your previous posts I maybe misinterpreted what you said. I read it that the bulk of UK TV was appalling but Canadian TV was fantastic. Did you mean therefore that British TV is actually good? I'm confused, looks like I'm not the only one that didn't quite get what you were attempting to say.

Oh and btw- why not use the multiquote feature to post rather than separate posts? It would save wear on your poor old fingers..

The last series anyone in my household tried to watch on television was something called ER starring George Clooney (he later became well known for marrying a famous lawyer). It was a soap set in a hospital and the episodes were made to be shown in order.

My daughter would sit down religiously to see "this week's episode" and very often appear, disgruntled, in the pub half an hour later either because she'd seen that one or couldn't follow it because one was missing. Despairing of Canada, not solely because of the television, she emigrated. Subsequently she lived in Iraq, where there's a war and women can't go to pubs because of religious constraints; she found it dull but, she texted, "at least the TV is better than in Canada".

Aw, c'mon Millie.....Timber Kings is awesome! 😉 I'd forgive the scripted dramas for a wee log cabin.

That's not true.

You might be thinking of America where it was pulled in the fourth series because there weren't enough explosions and car chases for that audience. :sneaky:

It ran for a while, was shown in Canada, there was a spin off show and recently a movie.

These are not signs of something that's not very good.

Look, opinion and personal taste is one thing but you're just plain wrong here.

Google tv episodes shown in wrong order and check the results.

imx - to recycle his own abbreviation - being plain wrong has never stopped Steve_ from holding an opinion on anything, even when, in this instance, he also appears to be in a minority of one :)

I admire individualism and look forward to expositions on the thrill of driving a Toyota Prius, the satisfying flavour of Canadian supermarket cheese and the exquisite musicianship of Avril Levine's former husband.

Remember Ken Jennings? Local television here showed the end of his streak then went back to the middle of it.

I wondered how TV might cover that but, alas, it wasn't that kind of streak.
